About
For over 25 years, Heather Menzies has worked on 7th Avenue in NYC’s Garment District. She has made patterns for many top design houses, and worked as a sample maker, a dressmaker, a tailor, and an assistant designer. One of her most significant positions was as a production pattern maker in the dress division at Ellen Tracy. It was there, during those many, very challenging, very rewarding years, where the master pattern makers and seamstresses generously shared their knowledge and taught her how to make beautiful patterns, and beautiful dresses.
After 7th Avenue, she began making custom evening and wedding gowns for private clients. Each piece was different. Each piece was for a special night, a special occasion, a special person. The best part? Seeing the client light up when they tried on their dress for the final fitting.
Heather’s studio offers women’s alterations and custom dressmaking by appointment. Private fittings, individualized attention, expert dressmaking techniques and fabric knowledge are all combined to make your experience an excellent one.
